A water softener is a type of water filtration system that eliminates hard minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, found in a water supply. The water filter works by using resin beads coated with sodium ions so that when water flows through, it will exchange out the hard minerals for soft water. These commercial water softener systems are great for getting soft water to your facility or business.
There are two parts to a water softener. The brine tank and the resin tank. The brine tank holds the sodium ion-mixed water. The resin tank is where the hard water flows cleaning out the hard minerals.
To reduce water hardness, the water softener system cleans out the minerals using the concept of ion exchange. The resin beads are coated with sodium ions, also known as salt, replacing the calcium and magnesium ions, the cause of the hardness. This process exchanges the hard water, changing it to softened water.
In order to ensure efficacy during the water softening process, the brine tank is used to recharge the resin within the tank allowing for a continuous cycle of filtration regeneration of resin beads and continuous replacement of calcium and magnesium ions.
